Military scholarship and program funds benefit UMGC's military students, veterans, and their families. Learn more about the different scholarship and program fund allocations supporting our military community.

  • Dr. Joseph Arden Overseas Maryland Association Scholarship
    Scholarship support to students in the Asia and Europe locations of UMGC who are active-duty military members, spouses or dependents of military members, or veterans.
  • Cecile D. Barker/OAO Scholarship Fund
    Scholarships for military students.
  • Bitting Memorial Endowed Scholarship
    Scholarships for undergraduate or graduate military affiliated students.
  • Roscoe E. Dann Sr. Memorial Scholarship
    Scholarships for degree-seeking undergraduates of sophomore standing or higher, with preference given to veterans.
  • John and Linda Derrick Scholarship
    Scholarships for students enrolled at least half-time in a degree program who demonstrate financial need.  Preference given to active-duty servicemembers and veterans of the U.S. Navy and members of their families.
  • Bill G. and Helen R. Evans Scholarship
    Scholarships for students, with preference given to military spouses and dependents and veterans who have been honorably discharged for 10 years or more.
  • GEICO Federal/Military Scholarship
    Scholarship support for spouses and children of a federal employee in grades GS-1 through GS-15 and/or activity duty, national guard/reserve, and retired enlisted military servicemembers.
  • President Gerald A. Heeger Tribute Scholarship
    Scholarships for students who have completed at least 12 college credits with a GPA of at least 3.0 and who meet one or more of the following additional criteria, listed in order of preference: (a) have been awarded the Purple Heart since August 1, 2000; (b) are active-duty military students, guard members, or reservists, or an immediate family member; (c) have recently served as a member of the active-duty military and are making the transition into civilian life; (d) any student who has demonstrated financial need.
  • Col Floyd and Lt Col Dona Hildebrand Endowed Military Scholarship
    Scholarships with preference given to the following: (a) activeduty members or veterans of the U.S. armed forces; (b) members or veterans who were wounded or had illness related to their service; (c) members or veterans of the Air Force.
  • HSBC-North America Military Family Scholarship
    Scholarships for students who are active-duty members of the U.S. armed forces or spouses of active-duty members of the U.S. armed forces.
  • Mark Huss Memorial Scholarship
    Scholarships with preference given to Army personnel.
  • Edward J. and Phyllis R. Lubbers Endowed Scholarship
    Scholarships for undergraduate or graduate students who are veterans, military spouses, or dependents of active-duty military servicemembers.
  • The Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Anthony and Lillian J. Masi Scholarship
    Scholarships for undergraduate students who are Maryland residents and the spouse or dependent child of a retired veteran; students must also demonstrate financial need.
  • Military Veteran Scholarship
    Scholarships for military veterans, spouses, and dependents with priority given to veterans who served in Afghanistan or Iraq.
  • Ed and Jean Miller Answering the Call Scholarship
    Scholarships for students who have served in the military or have a family member who served in the military. Funds will be given exclusively to those students who have served as part of the U.S. armed forces in a war zone in the past 24 months of the award, those who are currently serving in a war zone, or to family members of soldiers who lost their lives in combat.
  • James P. Muldoon Scholarship Fund
    Scholarships for veteran or military undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Pillars of Strength Scholarship Program
    Scholarships for students who are volunteer caregivers of injured military servicemembers.
  • Rosenberg Armed Forces Education
    Scholarships for students who are actively serving in the military and their spouses.
  • Scholarships for Military Spouses
    Scholarships for military spouses enrolled at UMGC.
  • George and Ruth Bryer Shepard Scholarship
    Scholarships for students who are children of active-duty U.S. Army servicemembers.
  • Together for Peace in the Middle East Scholarship
    Provides scholarships for veteran or military undergraduate or graduate students who are seeking a degree.
  • General John W. Vessey Jr. Scholarship
    Scholarships for degree-seeking undergraduate students who meet one or more of the following additional criteria, listed in order of preference: (a) have been awarded the Purple Heart medal since August 1, 2000; (b) are active-duty military, guard, and/or reserve members or members of their immediate family; (c) have recently served as a member of the active-duty military and are making the transition into civilian life; (d) are students with demonstrated financial need.
  • Vietnam Veterans Memorial Scholarship
    Scholarships for undergraduate or graduate students who are children of Vietnam-era military veterans or, in the case of the active-duty military, the spouse of a Vietnam-era veteran’s child.
  • Veterans Assistance Fund
    Support for student veterans enrolled at UMGC to cover costs related to their education when veterans benefits are unavailable or exhausted.
